So I think this weekly email would only be appropriate if it was focused on the Book of the Mormon since that’s how the rest of the week was also. So here we go!
We had zone conference this past week and President Pack invited us to “flood” the Canary Islands with the Book of Mormon- because each Book of Mormon is a missionary just like we are. So I took that as my own personal commandment from God that I need to share this Book, that has changed my life, with every person here in La Laguna that will listen to me.
Here’s why. This is the last 2 paragraphs from the introduction.
“We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3–5.)
Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom, once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah.”
I want to focus on the first part for now. It says that if we read, ponder, and pray- we will receive and answer if the Book of Mormon is true.
I know this is true!
For me, I like to put this to test for other questions I have. Some are more spiritual; some are very temporal. How can I be a better student? And so on. But that same process to find out if the book is true works for these questions also. We just have to read, ponder, and pray. That’s the power of the Book of Mormon.
This has worked for Jonny. He’s just a struggling man searching for a little bit of peace. We read some verses in the war chapters and that helped him. It built his faith so much that he took a 20-minute tram ride and walked 30 minutes with his 3-year old twin sons to get to church Sunday morning!
Our little friend Vayron loves the Book of Mormon so much he finished the entire Book of Mormon children stories in 2 weeks. He’s so excited for his baptism coming up, he’s one special kid.
It’s also happening for our friend Felipe. He’s a super religious man, but wanted to learn more about Jesus Christ. We read with him Alma 7 and he was able to understand even more the love Jesus has for us.
I could go on and on all day but I will just leave it to y’all to have your own experiences with this awesome book. Get to work, have an awesome week!
