This week I learned some super important lessons. Monday night we get this miracle email from Fernando. He asked us 2 questions.
1) Why he feels such great opposition every time he desires to be baptized
2) Why he feels like he must be perfect in order to be baptized
We felt like this was a huge huge turning point for him. Hermana Rossberg and I just wanted to make sure we did everything in our power to be ready for the next lesson with him the next day-knowing that he was just an inch away from taking the next step. That night laying in bed we decided we would start a fast and wake up an extra half hour to study for him. We were willing to do absolutely anything to help this man!! So Tuesday evening, the hour of the lesson had come and at this point we are just anxiously waiting to sit down with him and pour our hearts out to him how much the Lord loves him and wants him to take upon His name and that of course there is opposition but that’s just another reason we know it’s true because Satan is working towards the exact opposite goal! It was an incredible lesson. But still, he agrees to leave his baptismal date set for the 9th of July. Teaching Fernando has taught me so much. And above all one of those being patience and diligence. It would have been easy to leave the lesson like we failed but I had to remember the little progress I know we made with him. And that is basically how the rest of the week was. I don’t think I’ve ever had as many lessons fail or had to let go of so many people teaching after seeing them not progress. I’ve also never pushed myself so hard. Hermana Rossberg and I pushed ourselves to look for the hand of the Lord and how He still continues to bless us even in hard times. And it couldn’t have been more true!
We met our new friend, Maria. She is a sweet woman from Romania with the 2 cutest little kids. I’m super excited to keep getting to know her and see the blessings of the Gospel in her life. I loved looking over at her during church and seeing her little smiling face. God is so good and blesses us for all the work we put in. This is just one of the little fruits from this week.
This week my companion and I were “ponderizing” Mathew 11
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
I’m grateful for the very important lesson I’ve been able to learn on my mission to depend on the Lord. In all times and with all things. He is there to help us and strengthen us. All we have to do is be humble and work our hardest. And like it says in Alma 37:44- then the path of God is easy!
Love you all! Have a great week!
Here are a few more pictures from my week 🙂
We got to spend our P-day in “la providencia”!
